Who We Are

Having firsthand knowledge of the devastation of trafficking sets LRSA apart from other organizations. Our ministry was birthed out of the pain of the founder Carolyn Thomas, who’s 14 years old daughter was trafficked. At that time there were no services, or help of any type, to address the trauma which accompanies trafficking. Being a woman of faith and recognizing the serious problem, Carolyn felt God’s call to take the horror of her own family’s experience and pour what she had learned into families who would come after her. 

There are many issues that result from exploitation, of course trauma informed care is a must, but there are others such as education. Most victims find concentrating on schoolwork almost impossible. For others returning to their school is not an option for various reasons. 

When a child is exploited 4, 6, 10 times a day to strangers, they develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can be triggered by so many things. Disregard for authority, anger, rage, self-hatred, addictions, trust and abandonment, self-worth and gender identity and so many other issues are a result of being exploited.

In addition to providing counselling, educational alternatives and addressing the physical and emotional needs, we want to provide a safe place where they can experience healing, regain their dignity, pride and self-respect. 

We want the entire family to see themselves as God sees them, beautiful and wonderfully made. We want them to know that they are worthy, and that God has a purpose for their lives.

Utilizing existing public and non-profit assistance partners, Life Restored SA works to provide the appropriate services available to the exploited youth, their siblings and their parent(s) in order to provide a complete holistic approach to getting healthy as an individual and as a family.  We work with girls and boys aged 12 to 24 and their families in an attempt to restore their lives to their full potential.

 Our families have suffered greatly, and we simply want to love them with the love of Christ. God's people are not for sale, ever, anywhere!
